Heading into the season, the New York Jets were hyped as a potential Super Bowl contender. Then Aaron Rodgers was injured for the year, just four snaps into his regular season debut. While the Jets’ playoff hopes took a massive hit with the loss of their starting quarterback, there was still a strong belief in the team among the local fanbase.

The Jets losing Rodgers was not comparable to other teams who lost their leader, thanks to the presence and potential of former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson heading into his third season.

Obviously, Wilson and the rest of the Jets offense failed to live up to expectations, but fans still filled up MetLife Stadium like no other NFL arena. Well, aside from one team.

According to data revealed by NBC, the Dallas Cowboys led the NFL in 2023 attendance, with a total of 1,378,743 fans at their home and road games. The Cowboys often looked like one of the best teams in the NFL during the regular season, finishing with a 12-5 record, so their placement comes as no surprise.

Yet, surprisingly, the New York Jets came in second place, with 1,285,956 fans. Here is the rest of the top ten.

Like the Jets, the New York Giants also received strong fan support despite a tough 6-11 year, including a season-ending injury to Daniel Jones. Overall, the Giants actually had the second-best average attendance, at 79,307 fans per game.

Amazingly, the 2023 Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs ranked eighth in attendance during the regular season. Keep in mind that they were coming off a Super Bowl-winning season in 2022, too.

Chances are hype will start at an all-time high to begin what could be a record-setting campaign to try and become the first team to three-peat in the Super Bowl, but catching up to ‘America’s Team’ may be tough to do. Especially considering the Cowboys have led the NFL in attendance for 15 years in a row.
