A New York Giants insider claims the organization is willing and interested in trading up for one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, but the chances of a team wanting to make a deal aren’t looking good.

As we get closer to next month’s NFL Draft, there has been growing speculation that the New York Giants have come to the understanding that Daniel Jones is not their long-term answer at QB. And with a strong signal-caller class in 2024, they need to find his replacement in April.

However, top prospects Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or Drake Maye aren’t likely to fall to them when they are on the clock at six. This means they will need to trade up if they believe one of them is the right player to guide their offense into the future.

On Friday, SNY NFL reporter Connor Hughes confirmed the team is willing to trade up from six but the way things look in the beginning of the draft, the Giants’ trade advances likely could be blocked.

“The problem though is if there is going to be [a quarterback] for them to go up there and take,” Hughes said. “[Caleb Williams] is going No. 1 overall. That leaves Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels. Well Washington’s selecting two, they need a quarterback. New England’s selection three, they need a quarterback.

“If [quarterbacks are the first three picks] will the Giants trade up to select Bo Nix? Would they take Michael Penix considering his injury history? The Giants want a quarterback. They seem to want a replacement for Daniel Jones. That player might not be there this year.”

Hughes suggests general manager Joe Schoen would pivot to make a wide receiver their top pick in 2024, and LSU star Malik Naber is the player they will take in April.
