A new report from inside the New York Giants’ facility reveals the reason why the team’s owner did not move on from Brian Daboll after an offseason scandal and it will likely disappoint G-Men fans.
When the New York Giants kicked off their offseason the hope was that the media focus would be on who they might sign in NFL free agency and the players they could target in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, instead, an expose of the deteriorating relationship between their head coach and his staff has made headlines.

In January it was reported that many on Daboll’s coaching staff have grown frustrated with his lack of accountability while he blamed others — especially coordinators Don Martindale and Mike Kafka — for the Giants’ failings in 2023. It painted a picture of “toxicity” in the Giants facilities and growing concern from New York general manager Joe Schoen.
Following a disappointing and messy 6-11 season in 2023, the scandal made many wonder if Brian Daboll’s seat got red-hot and if owner John Mara could make a coaching change before things get worse and another season is wasted. However, a new report revealed the frustrating reason why Mara will wait at least another season before making such a move.
New York Giants owner ’embarrassed’ by constant recent head coach turnover
According to Fox Sports NFL insider Ralph Vacchiano, “The last thing Mara wants to do is fire another coach, especially after he fired each of his past three after two seasons or less on the job. He craves stability for his franchise and, said one team source, ‘He’s legitimately embarrassed by how much turnover there’s been.'”
Stability as head coach has long been a preference for Mara and the same ideal was held by his father Wellington Mara. For the sake of Giants fans, they need to hope the team can return to the level of play they showed in 2022 when they reached the playoffs and one a Wild Card Round game against the Vikings.
The team has had five different head coaches after parting ways with legendary coach Tom Coughlin in 2016.
