Who will quarterback the New York Giants in 2025? It won’t be Daniel Jones or Matthew Stafford. Rumors have linked them to a veteran quarterback, but if the Giants sign an aging arm like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, they’ll still need a future franchise solution.
Yet, that option may not present itself with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If there’s a specific QB prospect the Giants covet, they may have to get aggressive and trade up for him. However, the latest Giants trade rumors indicate a blockbuster deal could be coming soon.

New York Giants could be eyeing blockbuster trade for Cam Ward

As alluring as a two-way superstar like Travis Hunter is, if the New York Giants trade up, it’s likely going to be for a franchise quarterback like University of Miami’s Cam Ward.
Ward not only has a strong enough arm that can easily slice through the high winds at MetLife Stadium, his mobility makes him a potential superstar, much like Jayden Daniels. Yet, Ward is viewed as a likely candidate to become the Tennesse Titans’ choice for the No. 1 pick, meaning the Giants would have to swing a trade to get the QB they possibly covet.
However, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the Giants are “likely” to trade for the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“The best way to (find a future franchise quarterback) is by trading for the top pick. Multiple league sources left their meetings with the Giants this week thinking a trade for the No. 1 pick with the Tennessee Titans was likely. In that scenario, they expected it to be for Miami’s Cam Ward.”

How much would the Giants have to give up to move to No. 1? They likely don’t want to part with their first-round pick in 2026 and since they’re only moving up two slots, they might not have to. Yet, the Titans may not say yes without a significant amount of value heading back to Tennessee.
