In what could very well be his final NFL game, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had his team up 6-3 in the second quarter of their NFC Divisional Playoff matchup against rival Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.

Most of the success New Orleans had up to that point was on defense and special teams with Brees having tallied a mere 23 passing yards. Unfortunately, the all-time great signal caller handed Tampa Bay seven points and the lead.

As you can see, Brees telegraphed that pass to Michael Thomas. It ended up being intercepted by Buccaneers cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting and returned 36 yards to the Saints’ three. One play later, and Brady hit Mike Evans on a touchdown pass to give Tampa Bay the lead.

Brees, 42, has been on a downward trajectory over the past couple seasons. The writing has been on the wall for the all-time NFL passing leader. Ahead of Sunday’s playoff game, reports surfaced that the future first ballot Hall of Famer would retire after the postseason.

It looks like he’s making the right decision.
