A new report has shed some more light on the wild situation that saw a former Jacksonville Jaguars employee swindle $22 million from the organization and use it to live his best lavish life.
In December, it was revealed that former Jacksonville Jaguars Financial Planning and Analysis Coordinator Amit Patel was being charged in federal court with stealing as much as $22 million from the organization. The man who was fired a year ago allegedly exploited the team’s virtual credit card program for his gain and he used the funds to enjoy a very opulent life for some time.

Since September 2019, court documents claim Patel made fraudulent transactions and hid them in “reoccurring VCC transactions, such as catering, airfare, and hotel charges, and then duplicated those transactions; he inflated the amounts of legitimate reoccurring transactions; he entered completely fictitious transactions that might sound plausible, but that never actually occurred.”
While previous reports revealed some of the things he used the stolen money on — like a Tesla Model 3, a Nissan pickup truck, and online gambling bets with both FanDuel and Draft Kings — a new story from ESPN added more details on some of the wild purchases Patel made with the millions he pilfered from the NFL franchise.

- Tickets for Formula One’s 2022 Miami Grand Prix, the Jaguars’ October 2022 game in London and January 2023 game in Kansas City, and the 2023 Pegasus World Cup — a high-stakes horse race in Florida

- A combined $70,362.06 with Delta, United, American, Southwest and JetBlue airlines

It seems like Patel clearly knew there was a good chance that he would eventually get caught and the $275,000 retainer for his attorney shows he was prepared to fight serious jail time for what he stole from the Jaguars.
