Sunday’s game between the one-win New York Jets and winless Miami Dolphins was already being dubbed the toilet bowl.
New York has lost six of its first seven and is being outscored by 107 points this season. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 0-7 and have been outscored by a combined margin of 238-77. That’s a whole lot of suck right there.
Adding insult to injury, almost literally, the Jets listed 25 of their 53 players on Thursday’s injury report.
This is not a drill.
Among the noticeable players, Jamal Adams shows up with a foot injury just two days after the Jets attempted to trade him. The Pro Bowl safety is not too happy about the team’s front office seemingly going behind his back in trade talks.
Quarterback Sam Darnold, who missed time earlier this season to mono, is dealing with a thumb injury. Meanwhile, high-priced free-agent signing C.J. Mosley has been injury-plagued throughout the season and is expected to miss 5-6 more weeks.
Could this open up the door for Miami to earn its first win of the season? Don’t bank on it with Ryan Fitzpatrick still under center.
This promises to be a whole lot of fun in South Beach Sunday afternoon.
