Earlier this week, Damian Lillard returned to the Portland Trail Blazers, and the move was widely celebrated by everyone in the basketball community. Now, it’s the Los Angeles Clippers’ turn to tap into their fans’ nostalgia.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and several NBA outlets, the Clippers have signed future first-ballot Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul.
Paul received interest from several other teams in free agency, and he was said to be seeking a starting role. In the end, he ends up back with the Clippers, where he spent six seasons from 2011-2017.
Paul, 40, is one of the NBA’s oldest active players today, yet he’s still effective in several areas. Those include shooting (37.7% 3PT, 92.4% FT), distributing (7.4 APG), and generating steals (1.3 SPG).
While he may not be asked to start all 82 games as he did in his lone season with the San Antonio Spurs, the Clippers will gladly install CP3 back into their rotation, which now also features the newly signed Bradley Beal. Add them into a strong core that also features Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Ivica Zubac, and you better believe the Clippers have playoff expectations again.
