Back to where it all started. According to multiple reports, the Brooklyn Nets have traded Kevin Garnett to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for forward Thaddeus Young.

This trade has long been rumored to be near completion, but both sides were waiting on Garnett to waive his no-trade clause. The 15-time NBA All-Star is in his 20th season in the Association. He previously played for Minnesota from 1995-2007, where the future Hall of Famer earned 10 All-Star game appearances and was considered one of the best players in the NBA.

At 38 years old, Garnett is obviously on the back end of his career. He was averaging just 6.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Nets prior to the deal. This could be seen as the forward looking to end his career where it all started.

Heading to Brooklyn in the deal is former Philadelphia 76ers lottery pick Thaddeus Young, who should be a nice little addition to the struggling team. Young was averaging a solid 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for Minnesota prior to the deal. He’s averaged double-digit points in each of the past seven years and figures into the Nets long-term plans.

It’s an interesting move for a last place Timeberwolves squad. But apparently the team wanted to gain a PR advantage by bringing back the greatest player in the history of the franchise.
