Star Minnesota Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler had surgery on his right hand Tuesday, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, and will not attend USA Basketball minicamp as a result.
Based on the initial report by Charania, which noted Butler “has returned to offseason activities,” it doesn’t seem like this procedure was major or that it will cost Butler much recovery time.
Last season, Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and two steals per game, earning his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance.
Recently, he made headlines by declining a massive extension, which reportedly centered around how he feels about the Timberwolves’ young star, Karl-Anthony Towns.
