NBA MVP identified as ‘ideal trade candidate’ for New York Knicks

Playing in the biggest media market in the United States, there’s constant pressure on the New York Knicks to not only reach the playoffs but compete for an NBA championship. While they’ve been able to make strong progress as of late, their title drought goes all the way back to 1973.

But there’s positive momentum with the Knickerbockers winning 47 games while reaching the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2022-23. Since then, we’ve seen the front office continue to refine the roster, bringing in Donte DiVincenzo over the summer. But is it enough?

The Knicks will always pursue star talent, and while they have two big-name players in Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, are they equipped for an NBA Finals run? No one knows, but if the opportunity to add an even better player arises, you can bet the Knicks will have interest.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Philadelphia 76ers NBA MVP Joel Embiid is an “ideal trade candidate” for the Knicks. The problem is, Embiid is also an ideal trade candidate for nearly every team in the NBA. After all, he is the reigning MVP for a reason. No one’s better, or at least they weren’t last year.

The other issue, one that frequently comes up when the Knicks are linked to star talent, is the player even available? Based on reports out of Philadelphia, Embiid is still untouchable in trade discussions. As they say, it takes two to tango.

We’ll constantly hear New York Knicks trade rumors due to their recent progress along with the massive amount of attention that focuses on the historic franchise. But that doesn’t mean anyone should get their hopes up about landing Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns, or any other star who isn’t up for discussion. But it’s still fun to dream.
