The San Francisco Giants haven’t been linked to the big-time position players, as the pitching staff needs some upgrades. Logan Webb and Robbie Ray are the current one-two punch, but the rotation lacks depth. However, as the Giants pursue pitching, they have been linked to a top center fielder in free agency.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, free-agent outfielder Harrison Bader has “piqued” the Giants’ interest. Slusser also reported that San Francisco is exploring the outdoor market. In 2025, Bader was traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Philadelphia Phillies at the MLB trade deadline.

After being traded to Philadelphia, the 31-year-old center fielder boosted his average from .258 to .305, improving most of the other metrics as well. Bader finished the 2025 MLB season with 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in, both career highs.

The Giants would benefit from signing Bader, as his bat would be a good upgrade in the lineup. However, Bader’s defensive performance would provide the biggest upgrade. San Francisco might not be in the hunt for Kyle Tucker, but Bader would be a great addition to the team.
