As temperatures heat up across the United States, some of the best MLB hitters are putting on a fireworks show nearly every time they step up to the plate. From well-known stars to emerging names, the best MLB stats heading into the Fourth of July show just how hot some hitters are right now with the bat in their hands.

Let’s dive into some of the best MLB hitters over the last month of the season. The MLB stats are for June 1 through July 3.

Juan Soto, New York Mets

The false narratives about Juan Soto being unhappy to be playing for the New York Mets and already failing to deliver on his record-breaking contract were fun while they lasted. Soto’s “slow start”—a .770 OPS with a .231/.357/.413 triple-slash line in his first 208 at-bats—was always too small a sample size to overreact to. Since June 1, Soto has the highest OPS (1.153) in MLB, leading the league in wRC+ (217), with the second-most home runs (11) and runs scored (26). Even more remarkably, he has walked in 21.7 percent of his plate appearances over the last 30 games, which is well above Aaron Judge (19.8 percent), who is in second place.

Hunter Goodman, Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies are still performing like one of the worst baseball teams in the Modern Era, but young catcher Hunter Goodman has put up some absurd MLB stats over the last month. The 25-year-old catcher, who is in his first full season, boasts the second-highest OPS (.1.128) and the best slugging percentage (.759) in baseball over the last month in 22 games played. Goodman hit 13 home runs with 36 RBI in 211 at-bats last season. In his last 87 ABs, he has 9 home runs. Incredibly, Goodman’s triple-slash line (.333/.370/.759) is better than Cal Raleigh’s (.275/.370/.633) over the last month. While a 29.3 percent K-rate shows regression is looming, Goodman looks like a future perennial All-Star catcher.

The Tampa Bay Rays have climbed their way back up in the American League, positioning themselves as a playoff contender entering the summer. Yandy Diaz is a big reason for that. The 33-year-old, who won the Silver Slugger Award and AL batting title in 2023, leads MLB in batting average (.393) since June 1. For comparison, only one other qualified hitter (Tyler Freeman, .382) posted a batting average above .362 in that span. Daz also ranks ninth in slugging percentage (.617) since June 1, with his stellar success at the plate fueling Tampa Bay to a winning record in the last month.

After last year’s breakout season, Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene is taking another leap forward in 2025. He entered the Fourth of July top 10 in home runs and RBI, earning his second consecutive All-Star selection. Since June 1, Greene has the fourth-highest batting average (.342) in baseball with a league-high 29 RBI. In that same month, he became the first Tigers’ player to record 200-plus RBI before turning 25 years old since Travis Fryman (1992).

Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Ketel Marte is well on his way to being recognized as one of the best players in franchise history. A year removed from earning All-MLB First Team honors, the 31-year-old second baseman has played at an MVP-caliber level as of late. From June 1 through July 3, Marte had the fourth-highest wRC+ (193), the fifth-best OPS (1.078), and the second-most runs scored (26). Paired with his glove work and speed on the basepaths, Marte is tied with Juan Soto for the highest fWAR (1.8) over the last month.
