Jazz Chisholm Jr. might not be with the New York Yankees to start the 2026 MLB season. The Yankees are open to trading Chisholm this offseason, which would be a massive blow to their lineup. The All-Star second baseman is entering the final year of his contract before entering MLB free agency.
In 2025, Chisholm hit 31 home runs and drove in 80 runs over 130 games. It was Chisholm’s best season in MLB, as he played the most games in his career. While the production from the 27-year-old infielder, the Yankees might be looking to maximize his trade value instead of extending him.
If that is the case, New York should look into trading Chisholm before the 2026 MLB season, as that would make the most sense. Below, we dive into five landing spots for Chisholm if the Yankees decide to trade him this winter.
Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies’ acquisition of Chisholm would immediately improve their infield. Philadelphia has Bryson Stott on its MLB roster; however, he hasn’t lived up to the hype. Therefore, the Phillies would benefit from replacing Stott with a bona fide star like Chisholm. The price for Chisholm would likely be high, but an extension could make it a better use of assets.
Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners need to find a legit bat for the lineup after Jorge Polanco left in MLB free agency. Seattle entered the offseason looking for a player to take it to the next level after losing in the ALCS, and Chisholm would be a perfect fit. The Mariners have an opening at second base, and Chisholm would join Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez in a potent lineup.
New York Mets

The New York Mets might be an unlikely trade partner, but they could use a second baseman. The Mets traded starting second baseman Jeff McNeil to the Athletics, leaving an opening in a lineup that already lost Pete Alonso at the MLB Winter Meetings in Orlando. Chisholm would swap New York teams in this scenario, which might not be appealing to the Yankees.
Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds have several options for second base; however, Chisholm would take the team to the next level. Cincinnati made the MLB postseason but didn’t stand a chance against an elite Los Angeles Dodgers lineup and rotation. If the Reds were to acquire Chisholm, he would become the face of a franchise that desperately wants to win in the postseason.
Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers already have Chisholm’s former teammate Gleyber Torres at second base, but he could slot into third base. Detroit hasn’t upgraded its lineup after sputtering in the late summer, early fall, and the Yankees’ infielder would help give the lineup a much-needed boost. Chisholm only has one year left on his contract, but the Tigers could use his power to compete with Tarik Skubal.
