The New York Yankees haven’t done much during the 2025 MLB Winter Meetings. As of now, most of New York’s additions have come in the form of their own free agents, such as Trent Grisham and Ryan Yarbrough. However, the Yankees could be open to moving a two-time All-Star infielder this offseason.
The Yankees are listening to trade offers on second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. this offseason, as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. There are several teams in MLB looking for a second baseman, so it isn’t surprising that Chisholm has been of interest. It might be more shocking that New York is considering the idea.
In 2025, Chisholm hit 31 home runs and drove in 80 runs over 130 games. The second baseman posted a 4.2 WAR and made his second All-Star Game in July. If a team were to acquire Chisholm, it would be responsible for only one season, as he is set to enter free agency after 2026.
Maybe this is the time for the Yankees to maximize Chisholm’s value in a trade, but New York has the money to sign him to a lucrative extension. If New York wants to make it back to the World Series, trading Chisholm to a team needing a second baseman doesn’t seem like the best idea.
