Don’t call DJ Uiagalelei a two-way star yet. The former Clemson top recruit and current Oregon State quarterback still has a long way to go before making it professionally.

However, the youngster has now been selected into the Los Angeles Dodgers’ organization. Los Angeles made him the 610th pick in the 2023 MLB Draft Tuesday afternoon. He was the sixth-to-last pick of the annual event.

Interestingly enough, Uiagalelei was ranked as the No. 500 recruit in the nation in the Class of 2020 and profiled as a right-handed pitcher with a fastball around 90 miles-per-hour. He did not play baseball during his time at Clemson before ultimately transferring to Oregon State back in December of 2022.

From a football standpoint, Uiagalelei was a five-star recruit out of California and the No. 2 player in the nation in 2020. It didn’t pan out with the Tigers before he ultimately transferred to Oregon State.

While those are some pretty decent numbers, many expected Uiagalelei to pick up where Trevor Lawrence left off in Clemson. That never materialized.

At the very least, the youngster has a fallback within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization if things don’t work out with the Beavers.
