More than two months after being arrested and placed on administrative leave by MLB for alleged domestic violence, MLB is reportedly suspending Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera for the remainder of the season.

According to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Herrera will serve an 85-game suspension retroactive to June 24. As part of the suspension, Herrera agreed not to appeal the league’s decision.

While assault charges against Herrera were dropped on Wednesday after Herrera’s girlfriend declined to press charges, MLB still moved forward with discipline after conducting its own investigation into the allegations.

The league extended Herrera’s administrative leave three times during his absence before ultimately reaching a suspension for the 27-year-old outfielder.

Most notably, unlike when MLB suspended Houston Astros closer Roberto Osuna, Herrera is also barred from competing in the 2019 postseason if the Phillies make the playoffs.

Herrera will participate in a comprehensive evaluation and treatment program as part of his suspension and lose his pay for the 85-game period.
