Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna

Having been on administrative leave since May for allegedly assaulting a woman in Canada, Toronto Blue Jays All-Star closer Roberto Osuna was said to be facing a lengthy suspension.

That’s now come to fruition. MLB announced on Friday that it has suspended the 23-year-old Mexico native a total of 75 games. Said suspension will take the 2017 All-Star through August 4.

Given that the likes of Jeurys Famila and Steven Wright have recently been suspended 15 games following non-violent off-field incidents, it makes sense that Osuna would receive a much more significant ban.

Osuna pitched to a 3.38 ERA with 39 saves and 83 strikeouts in 64 innings with Toronto last season. It remains to be seen if his pending legal issues and this suspension will impact Osuna’s standing with the team.
