Milwaukee Brewers open to trading anyone on roster, including Corbin Burnes

We may not know his name quite yet, but the Milwaukee Brewers will have a new manager next season. Yet, Craig Counsell might not be the only familiar face who departs Milwaukee this offseason in what could be a period of change.

MLB free agency is sure to lead to several tough decisions, and that will be no different for the Brewers. Already faced with the challenge of finding a new manager after Counsell led the Brewers to an NL Central pennant while reaching the postseason in five of the past six seasons, the Brewers are also said to be open to making several roster changes.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Brewers are “open to moving any player on its roster.” That reportedly includes former Cy Young winning pitcher Corbin Burnes, who is eligible for arbitration this offseason and will be in line for a massive contract in 2025.

Burnes is coming off his third consecutive All-Star appearance with the Brewers and led the National League with a WHIP of just 1.069 while having an ERA of 3.39. He’s still just 29 and would provide an immediate boost to the front of nearly any rotation in MLB.

Aside from Burnes, other names who could garner interest include right-hander Brandon Woodruff, closer Devin Williams, Willy Adames, and even Christian Yelich, among others.

In other words, don’t expect the Brewers to be major players in free agency, with a possible rebuild or reset around the corner first.
