Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made waves after Monday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Playoffs.

The Super Bowl winner refused to answer a question about his future with the Steelers during the post-game presser. Instead, he simply walked off the podium. It led to more speculation that Tomlin might not be back with the Steelers next season.

Apparently, the legendary head coach held a meeting with his players on Tuesday. According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, he told the players that he plans on returning to the team next season.

Pittsburgh’s head coach since all the way back in 2007, the 51-yar-old Tomlin is entering the final year of his contract. It had led to rumors that he could either walk away from the game for a season or force a trade to another team. That does not appear to be the case.

Tomlin is only the Steelers’ third head coach since all the way back in 1968. The organization seems to value continuity at this position. That’s what made the aforementioned rumors so surprising.

Even then, we’ve seen two longtime head coaches leave their organizations since the regular season came to a conclusion. That includes Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots parting ways. Nothing would be surprising at this point.

As for Tomlin and the Steelers, they have not won a game in the NFL Playoffs since all the way back in 2016. Monday’s 31-17 loss to Buffalo will lead to a ton of question marks moving forward in the offseason. But for now, one of those won’t be Mike Tomlin and his future with the Steelers.
