The Miami Dolphins have had the most dominant offense in the NFL this season, however, the unit is expected to be without one of its most dangerous weapons for at least the next couple of games.

In 2022, the league was put on notice that the Miami Dolphins offense had serious upside when Tua Tagovailoa took some big leaps forward in his development as a quarterback with the help of new head coach Mike McDaniel and superstar receiver Tyreek Hill. However, the group took another step forward in 2023.

Heading into Week 6, the ‘Fins lead the NFL stats categories for total yards on offense (2,568) and points per game (36.2). Tagovailoa, Hill, and fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle have all put up stellar numbers this season, however, the offense has gotten an unexpectedly huge boost from the running game in 2023.

A major part of that new balance for the offense has been due to the outstanding play of rookie running back De’Von Achane.

Miami Dolphins will be without De’Von Achane for multiple games

The young stud is one of the league leaders in rushing yards and has run for 100 or much more yards in his last three games. Unfortunately, the third-round pick apparently suffered a knee injury in his team’s Week 5 win over the New York Giants. And it seems that surprise injury will sideline him for some time.

On Wednesday afternoon, NFL Media league insider Tom Pelissero reported that “The Dolphins are placing De’Von Achane on injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss at least the next four games and be eligible to return after the bye.”

The Miami Dolphins rookie has jumped to the forefront of the rookie of the year race in the AFC over the last few weeks with his performances that include a 203-yard showing against the Denver Broncos in their 70-point game in Week 2. The 4-1 club will have to lean more on veteran Raheem Mostert in the coming weeks. Mostert is listed as questionable for their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers.
