The Los Angeles Chargers are putting Melvin Gordon contract talks on hold until the end of the 2019 season, general manager Tom Telesco said Sunday.

This is a clear indication that the Chargers are comfortable moving on without Gordon this season, barring a huge turn of events in which Gordon reports on his current deal.

Without a new contract, which appears to be off the table no matter what at this time, Gordon is set to play out the final year of his rookie contract and make $5.6 million.

The Chargers have reportedly given Gordon permission to seek a trade.

If Gordon remains away from the team, as he has given every indication of doing, then the Chargers will roll out a combination of Austin Ekeler and second-year back Justin Jackson, who did a great job this preseason.
