LOOK: Melvin Gordon hints that he’ll never play for the Chargers again

It sure looks like Melvin Gordon’s days with the Los Angeles Chargers are numbered. The Pro Bowl running back remains a holdout from the team heading into Week 1 as he looks for a new contract.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles has given Gordon permission to seek a trade. This has all led to the possibility that he’s played his last snap in a Chargers uniform.

Gordon seemed to confirm that in response to a fan that was upset about doling out cash for a jersey representing the running back’s new number.

Gordon paid $40,000 to a teammate in order to change his jersey number from 28 to the No. 25 he wore at Wisconsin.

Needless to say, this is Gordon’s way of indicating that he’ll never wear that Chargers No. 25 jersey.

Gordon, 26, is averaging north of 1,400 total yards with 13 touchdowns over the past three seasons.

If the Chargers are to trade the former first-round pick, it will likely happen before their season opener next Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
