Markelle Fultz: Sixers will start winning ‘as soon as I get there’

The Philadelphia 76ers haven’t featured a winning season in well over a decade, but Markelle Fultz is confident that’s all about to change.

When asked when the Sixers will start winning games, the former Washington point guard said, “as soon as I get there,” via Sean Deveney of Sporting News.

Fellow incoming rookie Josh Jackson might just bust a gut laughing about that comment, but that’s none of our business.

Philadelphia has been embroiled in “The Process” since Sam Hinkie took over as the general manager back in 2013. While Hinkie is no longer the man in charge, the organization continues to embrace that terminology. If things don’t start turning around soon, perhaps The Process will be thrown into the dumpster.

At least we know Fultz has all the confidence in the world that he’s the man to complete it.

We wonder if Danny Ainge would agree with that sentiment, being that he traded the top pick to Philly all the while giggling to himself that he’ll still land his top player.

Fultz will be the first man called to the podium on Thursday night when the 2017 NBA Draft takes place. Then he’ll put on his Sixers hat and can begin getting to work and backing up his talk. Until he does, we’re skeptical The Process will work out the way he and the Sixers think it will.
