Trevor Bauer remains on administrative leave through Sept. 10 following a mutual ruling from the Major League Baseball Players Association and MLB regarding the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher accused of sexual assault.
MLB is still awaiting potential charges that necessitated the eighth extension of Bauer’s leave on Friday, the date it was set to expire.
The Pasadena (Calif.) Police Department has turned the case over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The District Attorney’s office is studying the evidence before deciding whether to press charges against the 30-year-old Bauer.
A 27-year-old San Diego woman has accused Bauer of assault during sexual encounters at his Pasadena home on April 21 and May 16. Representatives for Bauer have countered that everything that happened between the two of them was consensual.
The woman received a temporary order of protection in late June, and on Aug. 19, a judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court denied her application for a permanent restraining order.
Bauer, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, signed a three-year, $102 million contract with the Dodgers in the offseason. Before his leave, he was 8-5 with a 2.59 ERA in 17 starts this season.
