Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby has threatened to demand a trade twice in the last year-plus, first to influence a head-coaching hire and then when he questioned the team’s future this offseason. With a new regime taking over, it seems a decision on Crosby could follow.
Crosby, only 27 years old, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection with a pair of second-team All-Pro selections since entering the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s been the best player on the Raiders’ roster for years now, but has raised doubts about his future in Las Vegas.

The 6-foot-5 edge rusher wants no part of a rebuild and made that clear this offseason when the team started its search for a new general manager and head coach. It’s put the franchise into a position where it might need to decide on whether or not it wants to move forward with Crosby.
Preview the 2025 NFL offseason, ESPN‘s Dan Graziano said that he expects the new regime to treat Crosby “like the franchise cornerstone” and reward him with a new multi-year extension.

While he’s still under contract with Las Vegas through the next two seasons, Crosby’s average annual salary ($23.5 million) is far below market value for the highest-paid edge rushers right now. San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa reset the market at $34 million per season, an AAV that Crosby will likely try and overtake.
There’s even more incentive for Las Vegas to get a deal done sooner rather than later because of looming contract extensions for other edge rushers. Aidan Hutchinson, T.J. Watt and Micah Parsons could all push for deals worth $40 million per season, which would further drive up the price of extending Crosby if the Raiders wait to pursue a new deal.
