Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams was floated heavily in NFL trade rumors this season. Instead of moving him at the NFL trade deadline, Las Vegas fired head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. With the men who acquired Adams now gone, the NFL star’s future with the team has been an open question.

The Raiders never actually shopped Adams around the league ahead of the trade deadline. While he was viewed as an ideal fit for teams like the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets, Las Vegas never entertained trade offers.

Many thought that might change in 2024, with Adams a year older and seeking an opportunity to compete for the Lombardi Trophy. While losing the star would be a massive blow to the Raiders’ immediate future, trading him would provide Las Vegas with much-needed draft capital. However, it appears a deal isn’t coming.

Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda wrote that he is confident the Raiders won’t shop Adams in 2024 on their own. The only way Las Vegas would even consider moving the All-Pro wide receiver would be if it was the specific thing he wanted.

Adams, who turned 31 on Christmas Eve, could conceivably request a trade. With the Raiders making changes to the coaching staff and front office in 2024, the future Hall of Famer could decide he doesn’t want to be part of a team that isn’t committed to competing for the Super Bowl next year. However, it appears Adams is happy in Las Vegas.

“I’m told Adams is comfortable on the West Coast and happy with the Raiders franchise. He continues to like what he sees from rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell…If he’s going to be traded, it will be to a team Adams feels can win a Super Bowl, just about the only thing missing from his NFL resume.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be pushing the front office to acquire Adams and the four-time NFL MVP may even see if he can influence his former teammate to request a trade. For now, though, it appears Adams is willing to stick things out in Las Vegas.

Securing Adams’ commitment for the 2024 season would also help the Raiders this spring. Las Vegas can appeal to offensive-minded coaching candidates that they can run an offense with Adams and potentially running back Josh Jacobs. It would also make this a more appealing landing spot for quarterbacks in 2024.
