The Las Vegas Raiders made fans and players happy by retaining interim coach Antonio Pierce for the 2024 season. While a general manager is expected to be named next, the Raiders coaching search for an offensive coordinator is taking some interesting turns.
One of the potential play-caller targets for Las Vegas was taken off the board when former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron was hired for the same position by the Chicago Bears. Waldron’s experience made him a viable option to pair with Pierce, but there are plenty of others on the team’s radar.

With interviews still ongoing and both GM candidates (Champ Kelly and Ed Dodds) having input on the process, Las Vegas continues evaluating its options. While several high-profile coordinators have come in for interviews, two are reportedly standing out.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, USC Trojans assistant coach Kliff Kingsbury and former Bears’ offensive coordinator Luke Getsy are reportedly in the mix for the Raiders’ OC job.
Kingsbury, 44, would add some head-coaching experience to Pierce’s staff. The former Arizona Cardinals head coach spent the 2023 season as a senior offensive analyst at USC, assisting Lincoln Riley with the Trojans’ offense and quarterback Caleb Williams.

Getsy, 39, has been coaching in the NFL since 2014. He joined the Green Bay Packers as an offensive quality control coach (2014-’15) and then was promoted to wide receivers coach (2016-’17). After a stint as Mississippi State’s offensive coordinator (2018), he returned to Green Bay as quarterbacks coach & passing game coordinator before Chicago hired him in 2022.
Kingsbury was also brought in by the Bears this offseason for an interview, but it’s unclear if the team did that for some information gathering on Williams. It’s worth noting that analysts were critical of both the Trojans and Bears’ offenses in 2023, believing their respective coaching staffs failed to maximize the talent on the roster and used poor play-calling while asking an athletic quarterback to frequently make something happen when the play broke down.
