Lakers and Blazers among teams interested in Carmelo Anthony

Should the Houston Rockets in fact decide to move on from Carmelo Anthony, there’s going to be some interest in him.

According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, that includes the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers.

“I heard three teams I think could be for Melo. I heard, New Orleans, Portland and the Los Angeles Lakers,” O’Connor said on his recent podcast.

Any team making a move for the 34-year-old Anthony would have to understand the situation at hand. He’s a liability on the defensive end of the court and has regressed pretty big time offensively.

In 10 games with the Rockets this season, the future Hall of Famer averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting at a 41 percent clip from the field.

The Lakers seem to be an obvious choice. Anthony’s friendship with LeBron James is by now well known. The issue here is that he might not be needed on that roster with the likes of Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and the above-mentioned James as wing options.

This is certainly something to keep an eye on once (and if) Houston does decide its brief marriage with the 10-time All-Star should come to an end.
