Report: Rockets inform Carmelo Anthony they are moving on from him

We saw reports over the past several days that suggested the Houston Rockets are going to waive recently-signed forward and future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony.

While the team is publicly denying that it will waive Anthony, this report from Marc Stein of the New York Times tells us a completely different story.

Citing two sources close to the situation, the Rockets have informed Anthony that his days with the team are over. He’s also listed as “out” for Sunday night’s game against the Pacers.

Anthony, 34, had not taken well to a bench role for a Rockets team that’s struggled to a 4-7 start to the season. He’s averaging just 13.4 points and shooting at a 41 percent mark from the field.

It’s not yet known what led to this quick divorce. It could be as much about Anthony’s attitude as his on-court performance.

Either way, the 10-time All-Star will now likely be looking for another NBA city to call home here soon.
