In the first ever race between two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch and his 9-year-old son, Brexton, dad defeated the son.
Kyle is the defending 600cc champion from last season and Brexton moved up a class so experience won out in the first of what should be several races between them in 2025.
“This is sort of the pathway for Brexton to make it to the top,” Kyle told FloRacing. “He’s obviously one of the younger drivers in this class. So it gives him a chance to learn and get up to speed racing these guys.”
Brexton said he almost had a chance to make a pass on his dad.
“I thought I could catch him. I got my left front (tire) to his right rear. I thought I was going to have him. I guess not,” said Brexton, already looking ahead to their next meeting. “I probably would have nerfed him if I got the chance.”
