Seattle Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer sustained a lower-body injury on Saturday and is considered week-to-week, coach Dave Hakstol said Thursday.

Grubauer was hurt late in the second period of the Kraken’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was seen limping down the tunnel to the locker room after he lunged to make a save on a 2-on-1 rush.

The Kraken placed Grubauer on injured reserve the next day. Joey Daccord is the team’s backup to Grubauer, and Seattle also recalled veteran goalie Chris Driedger from AHL Coachella Valley.

Daccord has started the Kraken’s two games since Grubauer’s injury and sports a .959 save percentage in those games, including his first career shutout Tuesday against Florida.

Grubauer, 32, was 5-9-1 with a 3.25 goals-against average and an .884 save percentage in 17 games this season.

He could be sidelined long enough to miss the NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1, when the Kraken will host the Vegas Golden Knights at the Seattle Mariners’ T-Mobile Park in a matchup of the league’s two newest teams.
