Khalil Mack to be fined $814,000 for missing Raiders’ preseason opener

Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack

There’s really no end in sight as it relates to star pass rusher Khalil Mack’s contract stalemate with the Oakland Raiders.

Having held out since the start of camp, Mack will not be on the field for the team’s preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Friday evening.

As such, Mack will be fined a whopping $814,000.

To put this into perspective, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is slated to earn a base salary of $630,000 for the entire 2018 season.

That just goes to show us how dug in Mack and his representatives are at this point.

Mack and the Raiders have not talked contract since the spring. The two sides seem to be far apart, leading to speculation that the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year could be traded.

Even if that doesn’t happen, we’re not expecting a quick resolution to this contract standoff. That’s for sure.
