Texas A&M Commerce wide receiver Keith Miller III has passed away, with the cause of death under investigation after he was found in his apartment near campus on Thursday evening.
Miller, 6-foot-3, was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and rated by 247 Sports as one of the best players in Texas. With offers from programs like Kansas, Texas Tech and Boise State, Miller enrolled at the University of Colorado. After two seasons with the Buffaloes, Miller transferred back home to Texas.

Miller, a standout at The Colony High School in Texas, was born in 2001 and had emerged as a key part of the Lions’ offense moving forward. His death was first reported by Texas Football Life.
In a press release, the school confirmed Miller’s passing with both head coach Clint Dolezel and athletics director Jim Curry releasing statements.
“We are heartbroken by Keith’s unexpected passing. Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate, and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time.”

The school’s announcement highlighted some of the attributes Miller brought off the football field, including his infectious smile and an inviting personality that his coaches, teammates and fellow students loved.

Miller, a part of the Lions’ community and offense for two years, served as a team captain for the 2023 season. In his final season, Miller set personal bests in receptions (22), receiving yards (274) and touchdowns (4). Texas A&M Commerce’s athletic director offered condolences to Miller’s family and friends during this difficult time.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller. The A&M-Commerce community extends its deepest condolences to Keith’s family and those who knew and loved him. Words are hard to come by at this moment, but we ask that you keep those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.”
