Tuck had previously expressed interest in doing this, and now, the feeling is mutual.
Tuck’s career with the New York was highly successful for both parties. He recorded 60.5 sacks with the Giants, the sixth highest total in franchise history. Tuck earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2008 and made the Pro Bowl in 2008 and 2010. He was also a part of New York’s Super Bowl XLII and XLVI winning squads.
A third-round draft pick out of Notre Dame, Tuck played with the Giants from 2005-2013, finishing his career with two seasons playing for the Oakland Raiders. He recorded six sacks in his two seasons with the Raiders, finishing his career with 66.5.
While it’s obviously only a ceremonial deal, it’s nice to see this when it happens. Tuck is best known for his time with New York, not Oakland. While his last NFL snap will be played with the Raiders, he should retire with the team he’s more known for playing with, and that’s the Giants.
