All-Star Josh Donaldson to begin rehab assignment Monday night

Josh Donaldson

Toronto Blue Jays All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson has been dealing with a recurring calf injury since mid-April and will finally begin his rehab assignment with Class High-A Dunedin on Monday night.

Prior to his setback, the 31-year-old was slashing a .310/.429/.586 line with two home runs and four RBI in 29 at-bats.

He will join teammate Troy Tulowitzki, who has played in three rehab games so far following a hamstring injury. The shortstop is currently 3-for-8 with two RBI and two walks.

Both players should be back in a major league uniform within a few days on the optimistic side of things.

This is great news for the Blue Jays, who have been struggling this season and are sitting in fifth place in the American League East (19-26). The team has been plagued with injuries and a regressing offensive lineup. Getting Donaldson back will be a huge boost in this department.
