Joel Embiid officially listed as out for Game 1 vs. Heat

Joel Embiid

The masked man should make an appearance during the playoffs, but Joel Embiid won’t be suiting up for the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the first-round series against the Miami Heat.

According to a team release, Embiid is officially listed as “out” due to an orbital fracture and concussion.

The injury occurred with eight games remaining in the regular season. Embiid collided with teammate Markelle Fultz, and the orbital fracture required surgery.

Philadelphia continued its winning streak without Embiid, rattling off a total of 16 consecutive victories to enter the playoffs as the league’s hottest team. But it’s not a revelation to suggest the Sixers would rather have Embiid on the floor, especially with Hassan Whiteside roaming the paint for Miami.

Embiid averaged 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 blocks this season.
