Sixers provide official update on Joel Embiid injury

Joel Embiid

When news broke earlier in the week that Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Joel Embiid had suffered an orbital fracture to the eye and a concussion, we were all worried he might miss extensive action.

While that might very well be true, the update Philadelphia provided following Embiid’s eye surgery seems to be all sorts of positive.

The team notes that Embiid will be examined once again within five-to-seven days. At that point, he could be cleared to return to the court.

A report earlier in the day from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski noted that Embiid could potentially return in two weeks.

With seven games left in the regular season, Philadelphia is just a half game behind Cleveland for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Obviously, the team would love to get its All-Star center back prior to the end of the regular season. And that still seems like a decent possibility based on Philadelphia’s press release Saturday evening.
