Following a probe by police, Mixon was cleared of any wrongdoing after fully cooperating with police but his sister and her boyfriend were charged with multiple offenses.

Reports surfaced earlier this offseason that Mixon was a potential cap casualty for Cincinnati. While he remains on the roster, the Bengals are weighing options in free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft who could take his spot in the lineup.
