That didn’t take too long. One day after his shocking release from the Dallas Cowboys, Pro Bowl linebacker Jaylon Smith has found a home.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Smith is finalizing a deal with Dallas’ NFC rivals in that of the Green Bay Packers.

This comes following reports earlier on Wednesday that Green Bay was favored to land the 26-year-old former second-round pick.

Adding Jaylon Smith to the mix fills a pretty big need for Green Bay at linebacker. Right now, Krys Barnes and De’Vondre Campbell are the Packers’ two starting inside linebackers. Jonathan Garvin is starting outside opposite Preston Smith, too. Smith has the versatility to play all three positions in the Packers’ 3-4 scheme.

It’s also important to note that both Smith and Packers head coach Matt LaFleur were members of the Notre Dame football team back in 2014. LaFleur served as quarterbacks coach under Brian Kelly while Smith starred at linebacker in South Bend.
