Second-year Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was not necessarily among the big names heading into Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Despite being a top-12 pick of the Lions back in 2022, Williams had taken a back seat to other big names on their high-octane offense.

That was not the case early Sunday inside Levi’s Stadium. Williams absolutely shocked fans in Northern California with a 42-yard run on a reverse to put the underdog Lions up 7-0 less than two minutes into the game.

The blocking was great down the field, including All-Pro center Frank Ragnow. But Williams’ big-play ability did the Lions a huge favor early in this one.

This represented just the fourth career touchdown for Jameson Williams. All four have all gone for north of 30 yards.

It’s also one of the reasons why Detroit finished the regular season with the second-most big plays in the NFL behind the aforementioned 49ers.

Amazing stuff.
