The Denver Nuggets will have star guard Jamal Murray on the court for Game 3 of their NBA Playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
That was pretty much in question after his antics in Denver’s Game 2 loss to the ‘Wolves. The star guard was seen throwing a heating pad on to the court during the ugly 26-point defeat. It led to speculation that Murray might be suspended for Game 3.
Fortunately for the Nuggets, that’s not going to happen. Unfortunately for Murray, he’s $100,000 lighter in the wallet. The NBA announced that huge fine on Tuesday.
“Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has been fined $100,000 for throwing multiple objects in the direction of a game official during live play, it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations,” the NBA’s press release on Murray’s fine read. “Murray’s actions took place during the Nuggets 106-80 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of their conference semifinals playoff series on May 6 at Ball Arena.
Murray and his Nuggets were frustrated throughout the game as the defending NBA champions fell down 2-0 in the series. But it does not excuse his actions.

Murray scored just eight points on 3-of-18 shooting in the game. It was an absolutely miserable performance from the point guard.
As for the $100,000 fine, it represents the largest handed down to a player since James Harden back in 2023 after he called Philadelphia 76ers front office head Daryl Morey “a liar.”
