The mystery illness that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is currently dealing with has reportedly gotten worse and there is doubt about his chances of playing on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

After leading the NFC East for much of the season, the Eagles are now in a serious fight with the Dallas Cowboys for the division crown and the top seed for the NFC playoffs. It has created an added weight to the team’s matchup on Monday Night Football against the Seahawks.

However, there are now serious concerns their top player will be available for the game tomorrow night. On Sunday morning, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed “Eagles are downgrading QB Jalen Hurts to questionable for Monday night’s game in Seattle after his sickness worsened overnight. Hurts still is harboring hopes of playing Monday, and is traveling to Seattle separately from the team to try not to get anyone else sick.”

Jalen Hurts stats (2023): 3,192 passing yards, 460 rushing yards, 19 TDs, 10 INTs, 93.5 rating

All signs pointed to the 2022 MVP candidate suiting up on Monday. However, things quickly changed on Saturday when it was reported that he sat out of practice after developing an “illness.” The specifics of what ailment he has — and if it might be COVID — were not specified.

What should give Eagles fans hope is that the game was originally set to be today and was actually flexed to its current spot on Monday. If they had played Sunday, Schefter reported he would definitely be out for their game in Week 15. However, there is still a chance he can recover in time to take the field on Monday.
