Jalen Hurts helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a dominant Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins, however, fans of the team may have reason to be concerned about a knee injury the 2022 MVP candidate is dealing with.

Heading into Sunday, there was no bigger matchup on the NFL schedule than the first-place Dolphins versus the first-place Eagles in Philadelphia. The two teams are early favorites to reach the Super Bowl early next year and the game was a serious litmus test for both. However, after the dust settled last night, Philly reigned supreme with a dominant 31-17 victory.

The win was a big bounceback for the Eagles who suffered a nightmarish loss last week against the New York Jets. What was also important — beyond the defense slowing down the high-power Miami offense — was a strong night for Jalen Hurts as he tossed two touchdowns, nearly 300 yards, and helped the offense post over 30 points for the third time this year.

But for all the positive vibes coming out of their sixth win of the season, there may be reason for some alarm. Following the game, it was revealed that a hit on the quarterback led to him requiring a knee brace during the second half. Furthermore, a video after the win showed the signal caller limping noticeably as he went to the locker room.

Jalen Hurts had season-low rushing yards total in Philadelphia Eagles Week 7 win

In a follow-up report on Monday morning, NFL Media league insider Ian Rapoport revealed that the knee injury is something to monitor and that the team said it is an issue “that he had previously sort of been dealing with.” Nevertheless, he wasn’t on the injury report and his availability was never in question. Hurts also claimed he was fine when asked about it after the game.

Part of what made the quarterback an MVP candidate in 2022 was his ability to be a dual threat. Last season on six different occasions he ran for 60 or more yards, including games where he totaled 90 and 157 yards.

This season his best running performances came in Weeks 5 and 6 when he rushed for 47 and 72 yards, respectively. However, he ran for a season-low 21 yards on Sunday and hadn’t surpassed more than 37 yards in the team’s other four games this year.
