Doug Marrone and the Jacksonville Jaguars are doing a great thing with the 350 pounds of bologna headed to EverBank Field.

According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN, Marrone said the team plans to donate the incoming meat to local food banks.

We don’t blame you if you’re very confused. This situation is both one of the more humorous sports stories of the week, as well as a strange one.

However, the backstory is quite simple. Marrone eats a bologna and cheese sandwich after every game. Sensing a wonderful opportunity, the Beef Checkoff and National Hot Dog and Sausage Council decided to send 100 logs of bologna to Marrone and the Jaguars to fuel a Super Bowl run.

Each of those logs weighs approximately 3.5 pounds, so the Jaguars will have 350 pounds of the meat to donate.

Well, maybe 346.5. Marrone wants to keep one for his sandwiches, and we’re on board with the bologna connoisseur taking one home.
