While the New England Patriots have quickly decided on their next head coach, the Jacksonville Jaguars, one of six NFL teams with a coaching vacancy, are still in the hunt.

However, there are indications that the Jaguars are getting closer and closer to making a decision. Now, they may be down to their final two candidates.

While the Jacksonville Jaguars have interviewed several candidates, according to NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport, there are two names to watch closely. Both are from the Detroit Lions.

“A couple of names to watch, I would say Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson. Both considered to be very high up as far as where the Jaguars go and what they like. Usually it’s a big expansive list for Jacksonville. This time it is not much more targeted. Still several top candidates for what should be a really attractive job.”

Both are considered some of the top coaching candidates in this year’s hiring cycle. Ben Johnson has become known for his innovative play calls, using trick plays at what always seems like the perfect time. He’s been a popular candidate for several seasons now but has turned down some interview opportunities to stay in Detroit.

Meanwhile, Glenn is coming off a season where he led the Lions to the seventh-lowest scoring defense in the NFL. It’s an impressive feat, considering the Lions ranked 23rd in points allowed in the previous season.

The Bears and Raiders have been closely linked to Johnson. Meanwhile, Glenn has ties to the Saints, having played and coached for the team before joining the Lions. If the Jaguars don’t hire either one, chances are another team will.
