The Green Bay Packers drafted Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Eric Stokes with the 29th overall pick, the decision coming just hours after star quarterback Aaron Rodgers requested a trade.
Eric Stokes impact on Green Bay Packers
Stokes became one of the biggest NFL Draft risers, thanks to an outstanding performance at his Pro Day. The 6-foot-1 cornerback posted stellar 40-yard dash times (4.28 and 4.32) and tacked on a stellar 28.5-inch vertical jump.

A first-team All-SEC selection in 2020, Stokes slowly developed at Georgia. He played in all three seasons, often showing flashes of high-end coverage ability. However, despite his experience, he still seems to be learning the finer points of the position. Specifically, he struggles diagnosing plays and the slow instincts must improve before he can see the field as a starter.
Stokes won’t need to see the field immediately. He will provide depth for the secondary, with Kevin King likely opening the season as the starter. With great coaching, the No. 29 overall pick could develop into a great, young cornerback and that would create a fantastic duo with Jaire Alexander.
Recent rumors hinted the Packers might trade Rodgers to the Denver Broncos for a package that includes the No. 9 pick, which was used on cornerback Patrick Surtain II. Based on this pick, a trade with Denver isn’t imminent.
