Greatest Home Run in Baseball History:

There is some debate among baseball fans out there as to who hit the greatest home run of all time. There are so many great moment is baseball history.  Things like Bobby Thompson’s shot heard round the world and Maseroski’s homerun to win the world series all rank in the top in so many memories.  Today’s guest Ed Sherman tells TC about another great moment in history, possibly the best in his mind, which is when Babe Ruth called his shot.  The guys talk a little bit about the controversy that has surrounded the calling of the shot in recent years. Rumor has it that Babe was actually yelling at the opposing teams players to get off the field back into the dugout. Whether he did or didn’t call the shot the hit was still powerful enough to travel somewhere near 440 feet for a home run.  His at bat was followed by Lou Gehrig who popped another homer for the team bringing a victory to the Yankees.  The next game the Yankees slaughtered the Cubs sweeping the World Series.

TC and Ed talk about just what it would have been like to be at the game that fateful day.  Ed had the chance to interview US Supreme Court Justice Paul Stevens who was at that game.  As for whether or not he thinks Ruth called the shot or not, well it’s not our job to judge this. The guys also chat about how the Bambino would do in todays crazy social media world.  Apparently back in the 1930’s athletes and reporters got along. Go Figure?!  Check out the podcast and get a deeper look into Babe Ruth and the Called Shot! You can also check out Ed’s book.
