Gordon Hayward’s agent indicates he’s likely out for the season

Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward suffered what has to be described as a heartbreaking injury mere minutes into his debut with the team on Tuesday.

As we’ve done throughout, we’ll give readers an opportunity to decide if you want to watch the play in question.

Following the injury, confirmation came out that Hayward did indeed suffer an ankle fracture and a fractured left tibia. Hayward underwent surgery on Wednesday, after which point he sent a heartfelt message to Celtics fans the world over.

After what was deemed as a successful surgery, Hayward’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN that he expects his client to be done for the remainder of the season.

“We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form,” Bartelstein added.

In no way should this be considered a surprise. An ankle fracture itself would normally be season-ending. Based on Hayward also suffering a fractured tibia, that’s magnified even further.

The hope here is that Hayward can join the likes of Paul George in making a full recovery and become the All-Star caliber player he was pre-injury. We join in the rest of the sports world in wishing Hayward a clean and quick recovery.
