Gerald McCoy, Browns reportedly have mutual interest

Gerald McCoy

Six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy must have gotten the message Odell Beckham Jr. sent on social media, because the Cleveland Browns are reportedly on his radar.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported McCoy is “intrigued” by the Browns and could make a visit. She noted that, “The Browns have expressed interest in McCoy, 31, and have been in contact with his representatives.”

Adding McCoy at this point could be considered a luxury. Cleveland already added Sheldon Richardson this offseason and has talented 2017 third-round pick Larry Ogunjobi as well.

Yet there’s no doubt adding a player of McCoy’s caliber to this defense would only add more juice. One of the best pass-rushing defensive tackles in the NFL, McCoy could potentially be a key role player for this up-and-coming team with Super Bowl aspirations.

Other teams have their eyes on McCoy, who was recently released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a cost-cutting move. One of those teams is a divisional rival of Cleveland. So if general manager John Dorsey wants to sign McCoy, he might need to act fast.
